Acura did not become a standard bearer for luxury based merely on its vehicles’ sultry and curvaceous bodies. As the cliché goes, “it’s what is on the inside that counts.” On December 20th, we began a preview of the new Acura RLX Sport Hybrid – but we only espoused its exterior beauty and power.
So put on your bib before we delve into this tasty treat. The Acura RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD hosts a myriad of features that any driver could love.
The RLX Sport Hybrid is produced stock with a hard-drive-based navigation system that features live traffic and perspective map views. It provides all of the benefits of a navigation system and eliminates the need for phones or GPS devices. This first-ever head-up display projects all of the pertinent information at a simple glance.
A second display, which is touch screen, falls within an arm’s reach of the driver. Here, you can find the typical controls for music, temperature, volume, and other miscellaneous tools. A button-panel and dial rest below the display for consumers not acclimated to touch screen technology.

- Electronic Gear Selector – Forget those archaic shift-levers to place your car in Drive or Neutral or Park. Acura introduces a fully electronic push-button to select your gear, as well as an automatically engaged Electronic Parking Brake once the vehicle is in park and the driver unbuckles his or her seatbelt.
- Driver Assist Safety Technologies – Try a multi-angle rearview camera, Lane Keeping Assist System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and so much more; seven airbags, including a driver’s knee bag; and a “Top Safety Pick” rating from IIHS.
- Intuitive Technologies – Why not treat yourself to a capless refueling system, keyless access, touch screens, e-pretension front seatbelts, and rain-sensing windshield wipers?
Yes, the Acura RLX Sporty Hybrid SH-AWD is that sweet, so you may want to schedule an appointment with your dentist ahead of time.
As for the rest of the interior, it is just as befitting a full luxury vehicle as it ever was.
