The all-new Acura TLX rolled into the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) with all of the style and pomp expected from such a hyped unveiling. This new luxury model, which features some novel designs for the Honda Corporation, will replace the TL and TSX.
In order to entice a larger audience, the 2015 Acura TLX offers two transmissions not previously offered in any Acura or Honda model. The base TLX will come with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder equipped with direct-injection technology and a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, which boasts a torque converter for smooth gear changes. If it is more power and performance you seek, buyers may also opt for the 3.5-liter V-6 with direct-injection, cylinder-deactivation technologies, and a new nine-speed automatic transmission.
Though front-wheel drive is standard on the TLX, it will feature Acura’s Precision All-Wheel Steer: a four-wheel-steering system for improved handling. If that wasn’t enough, the automaker also offers consumers the Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive system, which is said to be 25 percent lighter and equipped with new torque-vectoring logic control.
If the power, handling, performance, and Acura’s Athletic Red Pearl color don’t have you already reviewing your bank account, the TLX will have the Jewel Eye LED headlights and Integrated Dynamic System. The IDS allows drivers to adjust throttle response, electronic power steering, and the all-wheel-drive system.
Other boasts like “vault-like quietness” and Lane Keeping Assist, in addition to the luxury and lavishness Acura is lauded for, make the 2015 TLX the single best reveal at this year’s NAIAS.
